From writing songs about horses to impending world domination, we caught up with Stockholm’s hotly-tipped Vera Hotsauce

Stockholm artist, songwriter and producer Vera Hotsauce has been rapidly gaining steam and acclaim with her colourful brand of contemporary pop. Aided by her unwavering confidence and brazen personality, the 19-year-old artist looks to have all of the style and the substance that are vital to succeed and thrive in a cut-throat modern music landscape.

Popular opinion seems to agree, and Hotsauce is widely regarded as a star on the cusp on an explosion. Listening to her music, dripping with swagger, personality, and pop appeal, it’s hard to come up with a counter-argument. We caught up with the young upstart to find out a little more about Sweden’s worst kept secret.

Who TF is Vera Hotsauce?

I’m a very energetic girl, that lives in the studio and lives for making music every single day.

How long have you been making music?

I started writing music when I was really young. Back then all my songs was about horses and my friends. I think i was around 7 when I wrote my first song. But professionally I’ve done for about 5 years or so.

Why do you make music?

Because it helps me deal with my emotions and I work with people I love. It feels like music is what my life evolves around.

What are your biggest influences?

I always write my best songs when I’m either mad or really really happy. I can’t write songs when I’m depressed.. but I always love a good rage song.

What would you say has been your best moment so far?

I think it was when I wrote my album! And when I listened back to it and felt that it was a piece of fucking art!

What do you want people to take away from your music?

I want people to feel inspired. It sounds so basic but that is actually how I feel. I want people to feel creative and strong. And I wanna be an imperfect role model.

What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?

My goal in life, something I’m gonna do before I go, is to play at the Superbowl halftime show.

What inclined you to perform under the name Vera Hotsauce?

Vera Hotsauce is me in the best way. A little spicy but also fun.

You have released a great number of tracks over the last year or so, are there any that you particularly gravitate towards and consider favourites of yours?

My favourite songs haven’t come out yet. I have one that is gonna be my favourite forever. But that one is waiting for the right moment. But favourites among my released tracks it’s either One Time or Hotsauce!

What plans do you have going forward?

I’m hoping to play some fun shows this year. But also to release my album of course! I’m gonna head back to LA to write my second album and hopefully plan a tour!

And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?

Probably all my ex boyfriends to be honest.
