Chris Kissel and Mel Menago started writing music together at college before finding drummer Keith Gill on Craigslist (yes, Craigslist) and getting their manager Lenny Sasso on bass. After more of an alternative rock beginning, their music developed to what can be best described as “indie rock pop electronic synth guitar bass drums vocals super fun time explosions.”
“Our first release was just us having fun, but our most recent release, Body Wars, took years or experimenting, work and soul-searching” and in the end “we finally got the chance to define ourselves the way we always wanted.” It’s more of a poppy affair with catchier, more immediate songs like ‘Firestarter’ and ‘Take’ demonstrating an equally fiery but much funner and more interesting side to them.
“We always want to keep an element of rock alive in this band, but we’ve been inspired by a lot of modern stuff at the moment. We get just as excited over a killer guitar tone as we do an interesting synth sound. That’s it in a nutshell.” The album blends rocky elements perfectly with poppier influences, creating a unique and exciting sound.
The band recently donated 50% of their Bandcamp proceeds to ACLU to oppose America’s ‘Muslim Ban’ for seven Middle Eastern countries, saying “It’s important to care about what’s going on in the world right now – no matter what your views.” “Music speaks to a lot of people, but so does art of all kinds. If you’ve got an audience listening to you, don’t be afraid to speak up for what you think is right.”
