In the third and final part of our feature on the best that Reading and Leeds has to offer we look at the Alternative and Jack Rocks stages.

Losing things (phone, wallet, brain cells etc.) is all part of the festival experience, but if you take the time to venture to either the Alternative or Jack Rocks stages you may find that you find a new favourite band.

In the third and final part of our feature on the best that Reading and Leeds has to offer we look at the Alternative and Jack Rocks stages. These are two of the festival’s lesser known haunts, but seek them out and ye shall find talent.

The Alternative Stage:

Throughout the weekend the alternative stage plays host to the festival’s comedians; with the likes of Jonathan Pie, Katherine Ryan and Simon Amstell all featuring. On the Friday in Reading (Saturday in Leeds) giggles are temporarily suspended for gigs, or rather DJ sets, where bands take it in turns to play their favourite tracks. If you were ever intrigued as to what The Big Moon, Marika Hackman or Declan McKenna are loving right now – this is the place for you! Finally if their main stage set on the Friday left you wanting more, Blossoms are hosting Indie disco Propaganda on Sunday (Friday in Leeds).

The Jack Rocks Stage:
This is one of the most exciting stages in the festival and you can guarantee that some of the bands which are on the bill in 2017, will appear on the Festival Republic or NME stages in years to come. Collaborating for a third consecutive year with UK rock night This Feeling, Jack Rocks doesn’t disappoint this time around. Sheffield based Bang Bang Romeo and Doncaster trio The Blinders were late additions to a bill which already features the likes of Baby StrangeThe Shimmer Band and Trampolene.
Of course, our three pieces are just scratching the surface of what is one of the UK’s most exciting festivals. Check out our ‘Reading and Leeds Essentials’ here for the lowdown of all the other entertainment the festival has to offer, otherwise to those of you heading off stay safe, see as much as possible and have a cracker!
