Formed back in 2015 by singer/guitarist Adam Campbell and guitarist Megan McNally, the then student band had only released one track before they were immediately picked up by XFM Scotland Radio, naming it one of their break-out tracks of the year. Starting in good stead, SAHARA have been going from strength to strength with their no-nonsense indie-rock that’s just built for the festival stage.
Their debut self-titled EP released a year later saw the four-piece join the ranks of Y NOT festival, TRNSMT, and support The View and Model Aeroplanes amidst a number of sell-out gigs throughout their native Scotland.
And there’s no surprise there; with a sound that draws similarities to the UK greats by the likes of Kasabian, Foals, and a little dash of the Arctic Monkeys, SAHARA stick to driving melodic riffs and blasting beats that are sure to stir the hearts and minds of any UK indie enthusiast.
‘In Sufficiency’ is the latest effort from the Dundee outfit, a guitar-led riff-fest that follows fan-favourite ‘Never Get The Time’ released earlier this year. It’s fast, furious but never loses sight of the ear-worm melodies and chant-along vocal hooks that began their UK chronicle in the first place.
The track was actually recorded almost a year ago, intended to be released as a B-side to ‘Never Get The Time’, “We never used to think it would be strong enough to release as a single, but we’re taking the fact we keep going back to it and haven’t yet got sick of it (as we always do with anything we write) as a sign that it’s time to put it out.”
Currently in the studio writing and recording amidst tours across the UK, keep your eyes and ears peeled for SAHARA, (hopefully) coming to a town near you!
