LULU JAMES picks… Her Favourite Songs.
Our #BLOGTOBER event at The Finsbury is almost upon us and if you’re yet to sort yourself out, there is still time to grab some tickets!
The event’s headliner LULU JAMES took some time out ahead of the gig to put together a playlist of her favourite songs. Give it a spin in preparation for tonight, when the soul-songstress will debut tracks from her new EP Colours.
Jon Hopkins – ‘Open Eye Signal’
First time I heard this was live at Unknown Festival Croatia, which was three, maybe four years ago. It was the perfect sunset! I had my feet in sand, chilling by the ocean and boom – I walked up to speakers and absorbed what was going on; mind blowing!
Joe Goddard – ‘Gabriel’
First time I heard Valentina riding a Joe Goddard beat, the first thought that came to mind was “Fuck I wish I wrote that!”
Talking Heads – ‘This Must Be the Place’
Classic, go to party song! Always !
Nils Frahm – ‘Says’
Nils Frahm has written my favourite ever album, Spaces! Strong words I know! ‘Says’ is my comfort song. I’m scared of flying so it calms me, it’s my fly-around-the-world song and I don’t see that ever changing!
James Blake – ‘Put That Away & Talk to Me’
This song is a vibe! I had this on repeat in trecking through the rice fields of Sa pa in Vietnam, and to be honest, this song helped me dance out of a very frustrating living arrangement! Rahh, glad those days are done!
