We are surely in agreement that the best music is that which makes the listener feel pretty damn good! Rest assured; take one listen to upcoming indie rock band VICTORIA and you’ll be feeling just that. Their latest single ‘Thunder’ is spritely and euphoric, its peppy rhythm and ear worm verses rising to a euphoric chorus – and fans will have ample opportunity to sing along this summer, as the band will be taking to Isle of Wight Festival 2017 on 8-11 June.

We grabbed the band for a chat about the festival, writing uplifting tunes and their plans for this year…

You’ve just announced that you are playing this year’s Isle of Wight Festival! How excited are you to perform?

We’re so excited! Festival season is our absolute favourite so it’s a really great way to kick things off!

What can people expect of your live performance? Why should passers by stop to watch you?

We love Coldplay, One Republic, Keane. Bands that have a big live sound so we try our hardest to replicate that.

You’ll be playing on the same day as the mighty Arcade Fire – are you big fans?

Yeah! We’re really looking forward to catching their set.

Who else are you excited to see at the festival?

We’re big fans of Tom Chaplin so we will be there!

Have you any other gigs lined up currently? Where else can people catch you this year?

We have our UK tour which starts on the 22nd of March which we can’t wait for! We’re playing in Nottingham, Manchester, Bristol, Brighton and London! You can find out more about it from any of our socials!

You’ve just dropped your most recent single ‘Thunder’! Can you tell us a little about the track?

It’s a track we’re all really proud of because it’s the first release of ours we’ve produced and recorded entirely by ourselves. It’s kind of about how you can sometimes feel like you’re not good enough at something or for someone and the battle to overcome that. We’re aiming to release a lot of new music this year so keep your eyes peeled.

It’s a bright pop track with an uplifting vibe, like much of your other music, despite the often melancholy nature of your lyrics. Is it important to you that the music you create has a positive feel?

Yeah it’s important to have a balance. We write about stuff that’s going on at the moment in our lives, so it’s good to have a balance of down to earth stuff and uplifting stuff.

There is an audible folk tone to your music. Are you influenced by any folk artists in particular?

I suppose some of our older stuff like ‘Into The Wild’ has that influence, but recently we’ve been exploring other sounds and influences to try and create our own sound.

Is there more new music in store for the rest of the year?

Yes, we aim to make 2017 the year of new music from us! We have a lot of songs that we haven’t recorded yet that we can’t wait to release!

Is there anything else that you would like to add?
