THIS MONTH’S FUTURE CUTS IS COMING UP AND WE COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED TO SEE ORCHARDS!

In anticipation of their set at our monthly Future Cuts night at The Finsbury THIS SATURDAY, we had a chat with the fantastic Orchards. They’ve also been kind enough to create a 10 track pre-show playlist to get you in the mood for what should be a stunning performance by the band.

We’re very happy to have Orchards as headliners! What can we expect from your headline slot at FUTURE CUTS?

Glitter, Confetti and a Party

Your music is a rather unique blend of math and pop. How did you settle on this sound and why do you think it clicks with people?

It’s got the commercial aspect of pop but the left field thinking of Math Rock and I think its accessible to a lot of people. Whether it’s a poppy hook or a technical drum pattern there’s something for everyone.

You’re a Brighton band; what is it like to be a band in such a creative city?

It’s so inspiring. This city is so diverse and eclectic, you can’t help but be uplifted by it. Hopefully that diversity shows in our sound.

What bands were you listening to growing up? Do you think they have impacted Orchards’ sound?

Between us 4 we have a HUGE range of musical influences. From; West End theatre to The Mars Volta, from Paramore to Billy Joel. We also all have a strong place in our hearts for Everything Everything, they are a band that bind us all together.

Which of your songs do you most love to perform and why?

We all really enjoy performing ‘Honey’. However we have two new songs in our set and they are increasingly becoming the best to play.

For better or for worse, what is your most memorable gig to date?

DUBLIN! First date of our tour in April was Dublin and it completely blew our minds and left us speechless.

Do you have any pre-show rituals?

The only one we do have is a quick band cuddle before we go on. It sounds cheesy but it works.

What has been the best band or artist that you have ever seen live? Have they influenced your own performance?

Living in Brighton that is a very tricky question, we watch bands on a weekly basis and being music lovers we have seen such amazing bands throughout our lives. But, if we have to pick, our friends in Idles have knocked it out the park every time we have seen them! They are one of the best live bands around at the minute.

Give us three reasons why people should come see your set at The Finsbury on July 15th (we may or may not hold you to any promises!)

Because. You. Should.
