Headlining our upcoming Future Cuts gig, Jakil is the super summery Scottish band making wonderful pop music, which you can experience live FOR FREEEE at The Finsbury on August 19th.

The sun is shining, so what are Jakil looking forward to this summer?

BBQ’s and plenty of them. We’ve actually set up the projector in the back garden and now have a big outdoor cinema ting on the go as well.

You recently played Birthdays in East London, how was the show?

It was amazing, we had loads of fun. Birthdays is easily one of our favourite London venues to play and we were playing alongside some good pals as well which was nice.

You’re playing a free show for us on August 19th. What do you have planned for this show?

Some big sweaty dance moves! We’re really looking forward to making a racket and maximising those Saturday night vibes.

Will you be teasing any new tracks in the set?

Maaaaaaybe. You’ll need to come along and find out for yourselves!

If you could perform in any country apart from the U.K, where would it be and why?

It would have to be America probably, west coast somewhere. Love it out there. They love bands and reckon we would go down pretty well.

Your live shows have a tonne of energy. What sort of atmosphere are you trying to create onstage as a band?

I guess it’s just good honest fun really. Not trying to act like we think we’re too cool.

You’ve released a string of killer singles. Can we expect them to be collated into an EP or perhaps even an album in the near future?

Possibly… We would all love to put an album together at some point. At the moment though we are just happy to keep smashing out tunes.

What’s the inspiration behind your latest single ‘Fool Without U’?

It’s based around that feeling of moving to a big city and feeling a bit overwhelmed, but finding someone that grounds you and keeps you sane.

What tracks/bands are currently on the playlist for you guys?

We’re always adding to our ‘Jakil Radio’ playlist which you can check out over on Spotify. Lately there’s been Gallant, HAIM, Fickle Friends, The Night Game…

It may only be summer but who are you tipping for big things in 2018?

Check out Minke. She’s awesome and we like her a lot.

And finally, for those planning to come to The Finsbury. What can they expect from your headline show? Musical speed dating so to speak.

Bright, loud POP.
