‘In your face’ indie-pop collective Muchacho are the trio that electrify our hearts

With their distinctive indie synth-pop sound, Muchacho are the trio that keep on giving. Blending a retro sound with the modern world, the versatility within the band is beyond words. Since we premiered their electrifying “Discoqwean”, they’ve been busy in their home studio cooking up a storm. We sat down with them to speak all things musical, who they are and what we can expect next from the band.

Who TF are Muchacho?

Jesús, Dan and Nick – just some kids from the suburbs of Florida.

How long have you been making music?

Muchacho’s a relatively new thing. We’ve all been playing music together for around 5+ years.

Why do you make music?

We like making things for ourselves, and of course, for the people.

What are your biggest influences? Can be musical, can be anything!

There’s too many to mention! Bubble baths, good coffee, Hoobastank, but mostly bands like Fleetwood Mac, Talking Heads, and Hoobastank.

What would you say has been your best moment so far?

I’d say that one time we met Steve from the band Smash Mouth. That was pretty fun and weird.

What do you want people to take away from your music?

Permission to be yourself, keep the faith, to be honest and have fun.

What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?

Getting to eat lunch with Steve from Smash Mouth. And probably get a song or two on some car commercials.

With 2019 over halfway done, we will be seeing any new releases this year?

Probably another music video… aaaand we’re working on an album… meaning lots of new music on the horizon. <3

Do you have an upcoming tour/shows coming up?

Nah – we’re just writing and recording at our home studio. Gotta give the people more music!

You recently released “Discoqwean” which we premiered, what’s the story behind that?

It’s too much time on social media… too much time comparing yourself… too much time listening to the outside voices online… we’ve all been there in the Digital Age.

And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?

Honestly. Probably Nick’s mom.
