Ready for your new fave pop star? Cool – get to know TiLLie that bit better when she answers our Very. Important. Questions…
Some people know exactly who they are and who they want to be to the point where such self-assuredness is almost bewildering. One such individual is rising pop artist TiLLie, and that nature applies to her musicianship too.
Following the success of her debut EP that saw her land a position on Vans Warped Tour, Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, and video game Rock Band, TiLLie returns now with her latest single ‘Faith’, an infectious and empowering anthem that inspires abuse survivors seeking justice in the “Me Too” era.
“I wrote my new single ‘Faith’ as a way of transcending a dark chapter of my life,” TiLLie shares. “After leaving the abusive relationship detailed in my last EP, the trauma still haunted me at times, justice felt damn near impossible. ‘Faith’ is not about giving up the plight for justice, but remaining confident in the fact that shitty people will eventually show their true colours and bring upon themselves the karma they deserve”.

What was the first song that you remember loving as a child?
‘Summer of ’69’ by Bryan Adams! I think I was like, three when I first heard it, and it’s funny listening to it now because it’s about a guy starting a band. I already knew my fate!
Who was your biggest musical icon at the age of twelve?
Whitney Houston, because I was hanging out with her all the time.
What was the title of the first song you wrote and what was it about?
I was like nine and had just see Josie and the Pussycats. My two cousins and I wrote a song called… actually I have no idea… but the lyrics went something like this: “I wish upon a dish for a new goldfish. Yeah right, I’m so uptight. If I were wishin’ I’d be wishing for something more, I’m not still four… ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR!” and then it went into a guitar breakdown.
It’s a miracle I stuck with it.
What was the first album you remember buying?
Spice Girls – Spice
What was the first gig you went to?
I saw KC and the Sunshine Band at a rib fest in Ohio lol! And then it was the Spice Girls.

What song are you loving most right now?
‘hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have’ by Lana Del Rey

Sweet or savoury?
Savoury all day.
What Spice Girl are you?
7/8 Ginger and 1/8 Baby
What was your biggest fear when you were younger?
Have you overcome it?
Yes because I had to face it. I lost my brother a year ago today. It was my biggest fear come true. It was and continues to be the most playful experience of my life but I am surviving – it didn’t completely take me out even though there were days I thought it would. I’ve also spoken to him since he transitioned. He’s on Jupiter now having a great time, but that’s a story for another time.
What is your most embarrassing memory?
When I raced all the boys from school in a roller rink. I beat them but didn’t know how to stop so I slammed into the wall of the rink lol. My orthodontist said that if I didn’t have braces, I would have lost most of my teeth. I still have a chip on my bottom tooth from it.
Who would play you in a film of your life?
If you could be in a tribute act/band, who would you be any why?
David Bowie, and obviously I’d be David Bowie because it would be sooo sick to dress up like him and play those songs.
Tell us about a time when you did something you probably shouldn’t…
Lol, I’m finding this hard because I do this all the time. I hate rules!! When I was a teenager, I lived next to an ice cream shop so my friends and I would push the dumpster over to the ladder and smoke weed on the roof when it closed. If only we had found a way inside afterwards…
TiLLie’s new single ‘Faith’ is out now.
