Here at Born Music we wholly welcome finding the next bit of dreamy indie pop, so when we happened across Miynt, you can imagine our joy. We recently fell in love with the single ‘Peaches’ (read our gushing here) and the Swedish singer-songwriter charmed us furthermore with her latest outing ‘Lucy In Disguise’.

Capturing the hazy essence of Geowulf with the cooing vocal and melodrama of one Lana Del Rey, her most recent single throws back to the 70s with lucid tones and smatterings of psychedelia, a sound that is only intensified in ‘Vacation With Bond In The South of France, pt2’ (who wants to hear pt1?)

With Miynt’s new EP Stay On Your Mind released today, we thought it best we grab her and pit her against our Very. Important. Questions…

What was the first song that you remember loving as a child?

I loved ‘Mmbop’ by Hanson and ‘Radioactivity’ by Kraftwerk. Hanson because I looked like Taylor (and I had a crush on Taylor as well..), Kraftwerk because my subconscious understood that there was more to life than Taylor Hanson.

Who was your biggest musical icon at the age of twelve?

I did love Outkast.

What was the title of the first song you wrote and what was it about?

I have a tape from when I was, like, four years old with homemade “demos”. I think the hit song was something about Donald Duck doing something. Maybe I should sample that on the next release.

What was the first album that you remember buying?

I think it was that first Hanson album!

What was the first gig you went to?

A swedish artist called Markolio. I liked a song called ”Vi drar till fjällen” which basically means ”Let’s go to the Swedish alps”.

What is your favourite song (ever)?

Worst question, I can’t pick just one! Let’s just say that I’m a big Bowie fan.

What song are you loving most right now?

‘Could Heaven Ever Feel Like This’ by Idris Muhammad and ‘Cortez The Killer’ by Neil Young.

You have one last meal on Earth: starter, main, dessert – what would it be?

Coffee…

What’s your go-to soft drink?

Water – I love water.

And alcoholic beverage?

Anything cold atm!

Sweet or savoury?

Both.

Which Spice Girl are you?

Ginger Spice; she was always my favourite because I thought she looked similar to my Mom.

What was your biggest fear when you were younger?

War

Have you overcome it?

No, I still don’t want people to fight.

Who would play you in a film of your life?

Kyle Maclachlan

If you could be in a tribute act/band, who would you be and why?

I never thought of that. Me and Axl Rose are pretty similar looks-wise.

Tell us about a time where you did something you probably shouldn’t…

I’ve been in some boat-situations…
