A plethora of hometown shows, TV, radio and podcast appearances and music releases; vverevvolf’s first year has been manic!
It has been a year since the wonderful vverevvolf released their first ever single ‘Cruel Games’ and what a whirlwind of a year it has been! The video followed shortly afterwards and half of the San Francisco duo (Dylan) featured on the Totally Tell Me weekly entertainment review podcast. They finished off the year with some hometown shows, another podcast feature, this time on Ghost of Lightning, and made their live debut of ‘Cruel Games’ on B-Sides TV!
After an incredible 2017, the duo wasted no time to take 2018 by storm, playing at Popscene, San Francisco with fellow Californians Saro and SUMif, as ‘Cruel Games’ hit a whopping 5,ooo streams on Spotify. Fans didn’t have to wait long until their next single. ‘Lemonade’ was released in February with a colourful lyric video. vverevvolf had a chat with BFF.fm on LOUD & Local before heading to play a Valentine’s show at Great American Music Hall with rock/pop dance band The Lovemakers.
The end of February was the time we had all been waiting for. vverevvolf dropped their debut EP Electric Blue, which they state was five years in the making! As if that wasn’t enough, the electropop duo featured on Vadal Moon’s latest track ‘The Bomb’, Dylan returned to the Totally Tell Me studio, and ‘Cruel Games’ was featured on American prime time television soap opera Dynasty!
The first official remix of ‘Cruel Games’, by Akitoshi Ehara, was released in May, ahead of vverevvolf’s sold out show at Spotify San Francisco as part of Design Week. July saw the duo hit the road as they played their first ever out of town show at She Fest, as a part of San Diego Pride week.
The pair headed back home to appear yet again on Totally Tell Me before playing at Café du Nord, San Francisco. Last month, Dylan hung out with BFF.fm, chatting about new projects and created a collaborative playlist ahead of releasing a new live video for ‘Braindead’. TV clearly hadn’t had enough of these electropop divas as ‘Lemonade’ was featured on an episode of VICE TV’s King of the Road. They finished off the month playing The Independent!, California with Californian indie band Foxtails Brigade and New York pop collective YASSOU.
Keep an eye out for vverevvolf, judging by their first year, they’re going to be massive!
vverevvolf provided us a little personal insight into their year: “The past year has been really busy and kinda surreal! We released our first EP (Electric Blue), and basically right away got invited to perform at Spotify and started getting videos from our friends of them hearing our songs out in public. We still sort of think of ourselves as nobodies, so that’s been super weird and cool. We’re currently finishing up our second EP, which should start coming out before the end of the year. This time around, we got the chance to collaborate with a couple people that we’ve actually been fans of for a long time, so we’re really excited to start sharing things from it soon!”
vverevvolf’s debut EP Electric Blue is available to stream and download on all major platforms now.
