It has been a whole year since CUT_ released the intoxicating and quite frankly ELECTRIFYING ‘Electrify’! But what have they been up to since?

By golly, who can believe it has been a whole year since we premiered CUT_‘s ‘Electrify’ here on Born Music? The track was their second release of 2017 which was followed by a jam-packed year of gigs, festivals and, above all, brand new music! By mid-July, ‘Electrify’ was added to Spotify’s New Music Friday NL playlist and Dutch national radio station 3FM’s playlist, where the duo went on to perform the track live a few weeks later.

The summer of 2017 was brimming with Festival slots for the Dutch duo, appearing at our very own The Great Escape as well as Dutch festivals Blijdorp, Zandstock and Solar Weekend, and c/o pop and Womensummerland in Germany.

CUT_ aren’t all about music, either. October saw the launch of the duo’s new clothing line for Scotch & Soda during the Amsterdam Dance Event as well as their last gig of the year at Take Me to Church Festival at the Groenmarktkerk in Haarlem.

Despite the fact CUT_ had finished gigging, they weren’t quite finished with the year just yet. The Dutch duo surprise released their Unplugged EP in late November and covered Wham‘s ‘Last Christmas’ in December which proved so popular that the band began offering it as a free download to those who followed them on Spotify!

CUT_ kicked off 2018 by playing at ESNS, Friendly Fire Bar. They released their next single ‘It’s On’ in February which impressively appeared on Spotify’s New Music Friday and New Alternative playlists just 3 days later.

With little time to waste, CUT_ released their Blind = Bliss EP at the beginning of March which was followed by their first gig of 2018 at Eetcafé Stathe, Utrecht, Netherlands where they experimented with new ideas. Their Blind = Bliss release show proved highly popular and they added an extra date which also sold out! You certainly need to be on the ball if you want to see this band live.

Belle was interviewed by massive lifestyle magazine ELLE in April and the duo released a reworking of ‘It’s On’ the following day. Later in the month saw the premiere of their beautiful analogue video for ‘Trick Me’ directed by Arno Stols, featuring dancer Alice Godfrey.

Throughout April and May, CUT_ embarked on a Spring tour supporting Dutch singer-songwriter Blaudzun and finished off the month by kicking off the festival season at Dauwpop Festival.

The duo began a new era and became a trio in June (on stage, at least) and performed for the first time with drummer Mischa Porte at Amsterdam’s Vondelpark open air theatre. Next on the festival calendar was Oerol Festival on the island of Terschelling.

This month has been big for CUT_ so far. They collaborated with dutch producer GANZ on ‘Slippin” and supported incredibly popular British artist Jessie Ware at Amsterdam’s Bostheatre! Impressive. Next week, don’t miss them at Big Rivers Festival in Dordrecht!

Belle provided us more of a personal insight into their year: “Since our release of ‘Electrify’ we’ve been dropping collabs with some great artists like DROELOE, Taska Black, Tinlicker and GANZ. Next to that we’ve been working on our first full length album which we are finishing up as we speak. There are some bangers on there but there will also be some intimate sounds and stories that will pull you into our personal world. Right now we’re looking at a big video project for the singles, teaming up with our great partners of Magenta Films. To bring all this to life when we jump on stage we’re teaming up with a drummer for our live shows, giving it just that little bit extra for the people to dive into when dancing with us. All big projects, reaching for a higher level using our passion as an inexhaustible source.”
