‘Jaded’ is 80’s pop with added modern bite, and The Old Pink House have pulled it off perfectly. Self described as ‘cosmic-pop’, The Old Pink House are gaining lots of traction in their hometown of Newcastle and outside. Having been already supported by taste-makers at BBC Radio 1 such as Huw Stephens, the sky is the limit for this young Newcastle band.

‘Jaded’ has the spacey synth atmospheres of those hey-days in the 80’s, but is supported by some of the most ferocious bass and guitar lines heard this year. The Old Pink House may have a certified hit here, and they certainly do not sound ‘Jaded’. Lyrically, lead singer Christopher Brown is fighting back against those negative emotions that affect us all. ‘Jaded is about how things we go through wear us down. I’m naturally a pessimistic person and the lyrics are shot through with that sense of cynicism, but at the same time I’m always trying to peel away at it as it traps us in a vicious cycle where we become more and more numb to everything around us. With the way everything in the world is going now, it’s the last thing anyone needs’. Well hopefully for The Old Pink House, this latest single and their upcoming EP will probably mark a very positive year for the band.
