Jack River returns with her second single of the year, ‘Adolescent’, a boycott to the conventional pop subject matter, questioning youth’s age-old obsession with love and lust.
Coming fresh off tour with the Australian leg of Angus & Julia Stone’s tour, as well as opening Florence and The Machine with Leon Bridges, it’s safe to say River’s career is on fire. With 2018 showcasing the success of Jack’s debut album ‘Sugar Mountain’, she has reached 30 million streams worldwide. ‘Adolescent’ will be one of the newest additions to the Deluxe edition of her debut album soon to be re-released.
Entering with signature vocals, River adds a twist of whimsical tone within her highly relatable lyricism of this generation’s online obsessions. Surrounded by swirling guitars, the song becomes a commotion of rebellious and arousing spirit.
River explains the inspiration behind ‘Adolescent’ stating this it’s, “Calling out the façade of social media culture’s infatuation with aesthetics. This is a song for all the boys and girls chasing something deeper and gritter, something with meaning.”
