Come And Watch ‘Twin Peaks’ With Saint Sister
FFO: Jealous Of The Birds, James Blake, Bon Iver
Record Label: Unsigned
‘Twin Peaks’ is a wonderfully delicate, serene letter to friendship and all the things Saint Sister love. With this latest single, Saint Sister mark their departure from a full sound to one that is much more concerned with the silence in-between the sound. This stripped back atmosphere provides the perfect backdrop for what is a melancholic, denial-ridden yet nostalgic piece of electronic folk. Harps sprinkle all over the track, while the heavenly vocal harmonies of Morgan MacIntyre and Gemma Doherty play with each other with the joy and skill quite like two ballet dancers.
The two spoke to Billboard about the track, and delved deeper into the meaning of the lyrics. ‘It’s an instinctive reaction towards a friend who was going through a difficult time. What I wanted to say was, ”Let’s just do all the things we enjoy, let’s block out the rest of the world, let it just be us for the next while and don’t worry, we don’t have to think about anything that will upset you”’. In the same interview, the band spoke of their upcoming debut album, ‘Shape of Silence’. The band have had many songs recorded and ready to go since their debut in 2015 with the EP ‘Madrid’, but have not been keen on releasing music quickly for the masses. This is a band that want to focus on keeping things true to themselves.
‘Twin Peaks’ is a beautifully tranquil new single from Irish band Saint Sister, and you can listen to the track on Spotify below, or listen on Youtube.
