The prestigious Brits Critics’ Choice Award winner will be decided on 7th December.

The Brit Awards have announced the nominees for the upcoming Critic’s Choice award, which includes Leicester R&B songstress Mahalia, Newcastle’s Sam Fender and Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi.

The prestigious award is now in it’s eleventh year, and the 2019 winner will be decided on 7th December, before airing live on ITV from London’s O2 Arena on the 20th February.

The winner will follow in the footsteps of Critic’s Choice alumni Adele, Florence & The Machine, Jorja Smith, Rag N Bone Man and Sam Smith – to name but a few – all of which have seen stratospheric industry success.

Both Fender and Capaldi were also notable mentions on BBC’s Sound of 2018 longlist, and Mahalia has seen success performing with Rudimental alongside supporting Ed Sheeran, so competition is certainly looking stiff between the three.
