Mabel’s sold out show in Birmingham was one for the books! If you weren’t there, you missed out…
Before we get to the main event, we want to shout out Mabel’s opening act, 16-year old Ruel from Australia. We interviewed him before the show and can testify for what a cool guy he is! Ruel shut down his set – it was incredible, from his band to the lighting, to the vocals to the audience engagement. ‘Golden Years’ (which you can check out below) was a favourite of ours from his set; it was all on point. We felt like proud parents watching him perform with such passion and engagement. Well done Ruel – all the best for the rest of the tour!
Now onto the main act. When Mabel walked out on stage it was clear that she was ready to put on a show. The artist clearly has some amazing and supportive fans who knew every word to every song, enjoying every moment of the show. The screams were deafening. Some of our favourite renditions include ‘One Shot’, ‘Ring Ring’ and ‘Fine Line’.
Mabel’s set was a rollercoaster. The set began with reciprocal energy and passion between the performer and her audience. Halfway through, Mabel toned it down and made it a little more personal and intimate. Her song ‘Okay’ that talks about anxiety and how it’s “okay not to be okay”, a really beautiful and touching rendition that her fans loved. She then brought the energy back before closing off the show. We have to give another shout out to Mabel’s dancers who were fierce, full of energy and gave every move 110% – which we love! Mabel’s band we also incredible and the show wouldn’t have been the same without them.
