The St Albans band return to the Hertfordshire festival

Ten years on from performing on Standon Calling stage, Friendly Fires have been confirmed as special guests for the 2019 iteration of the festival.

The Hertfordshire music, comedy and arts festival has been around since 2004, near the village of Stanton. The event will run from Thursday July 25th to Sunday July 28th. Main stage headliners Rag’n’Bone Man, Wolf Alice and Nile Rodgers & CHIC have already been announced.

Since Friendly Fires’ eponymous debut album was shortlisted for the 2009 Mercury Music Prize, the outfit have gone on to be nominated for two BRIT Awards. Last year the band released their first new music since 2012 with singles ‘Heaven Let Me In’ and ‘Love Like Waves’.

“It was brilliant to see such a great reaction to our first wave of artists, and we’re delighted to add even more special names and performances for Standon Calling 2019.” Festival founder Alex Trenchard has said. “Friendly Fires’ 2009 Standon Calling performance remains one of the most all-time memorable Standon Calling moments. They’re one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live and this St Albans band’s homecoming special guest show is going to be mind-blowing.”

This year’s diverse line-up also includes IDLES, Sea Girls, Echo & The Bunnymen, Kate Nash, Lewis Capaldi, Band Of Skulls, The Go! Team, The Joy Formidable and Simian Mobile Disco. For the full line-up check out the poster below.
