Circa Waves share their latest offering “What’s That Left Over There?”. Unveiling two brand new songs ‘Something More’ and ‘Hunters’, it’s the first release since their third album “What’s It Like Over There?” dropped back in April.
Released August 30th via Prolifica Inc/PIAS, the EP also features previously unheard takes of “Times Won’t Change Me” and “The Way We Say Goodbye”. Offering fans a chance to hear two songs that lead songwriter Kieran Shudall completed while writing the previous album release, the new songs were far too good to let go of in Circa Waves discography, so here they are on “What’s That Left Over There?”
‘Hunters” delivers a lo-fi indie pop arrangement that blends a simple but effective approach in Shudall’s songwriting. Whereas ‘Something More’ feels like a vintage take of today’s new found love for 80’s synthesisers in this new wave number. As for the EP, it’s definitely signified the quartet to achieve their highest chart position so far. With sold out shows happening across the UK for the band, its no wonder they are simply known as the ‘must-see live band’. After taking to the second stage at Reading & Leeds, they played to one of the festivals biggest crowds of the weekend.
Kieran Shudall had this to say on the EP: “Here are a couple of tunes that we felt a little too laid back to have on the main record but we still adored them and wanted the music to be released into the ether. We also reworked ‘Times Won’t Change Me’ into an acoustic wonder and ‘The Way We Say Goodbye’ into a piano ballad, both of which you can enjoy whilst crying into your cornflakes”.
