Amterdam’s Pip Blom have had a crazy year and we’ve loved catching up with them. So, what better time to do that again then Christmas!
From a mega tour, to some pretty tremendous releases, Pip Blom have had an amazing year. We’re certain that they’re going to have an even better 2018, which is why we had to have one final catch up with them before that madness ensues.
Check out their top 10 tracks of 2017 here in this playlist below, too!
What have been your most memorable moments of 2017?
We’ve had a pretty crazy year. So many things happened. But my personal most memorable moment of 2017 was definitely our last show in London, two weeks ago at Shacklewell Arms. We arrived in the afternoon and Georgia, the promoter, told us that there were 250 RSVPs. The venue has a capacity of 170 so we were really thrilled to hear it. We’ve never done a show of our own that has sold out (including the Netherlands). So, when you hear that kind of news you immediately start thinking: oh, everyone will leave once the supports are finished. But, after the supports it seemed to get busier instead. When we started playing the show everyone was so enthusiastic and a lot of people were singing along. I loved it so much. The smile on my face was there for the entire show. It’s definitely my highlight of 2017
What’s your album of the year?
I think: The Homesick – Youth Hunt
What was the best gig (besides your own) that you’ve been to this year?
I really liked the Moonlandingz. They had so much energy and I love their songs.
Where will you be this Christmas and New Year?
I’m away in Portugal during Christmas enjoying the sun! And not sure what I will be doing during New Year. I don’t like New Years Eve…
What’s your favourite thing to eat or drink at Christmas?
Well, anything with cheese. I love cheese.
What’s the best and worst Christmas present you’ve ever received?
We don’t really do Christmas presents. Christmas isn’t really a happening in my family. We do eat together but that’s about is.
Do you have any resolutions for 2018?
Make a lot of good songs.
What is one thing you hope does not continue into 2018?
Snow. No, I don’t know. There are a lot of stupid and very upsetting things that I want to stop. It’s too much to put in a list.
What album are you hoping for/looking forward to the most from 2018?
Definitely The Breeders’ album. Their new single is so good.
What band/act do you think we should keep our eyes on in 2018?
The Orielles. That band is so cool.
