This Christmas Cracker comes in the form of a festive chat with our favourite pink Queen, Girli. Look back with us on the great year she’s had.

You haven’t experienced peak freedom and fun until you’ve been to a Girli gig… and that was even before the Donald Trump masks were introduced. We’ve been big supporters of all things Girli for quite some time now and it’s been great to watch her musical progression.

Collaborating with Lethal Bizzle (!!) to the release of new tracks, videos and EPs, we can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for Girli, we’re certain it’s going to be completely wild. But first, before you read our lil’ chat with her, do yourself a favour and listen to our current fave Girli track ‘Can I Say Baby’.

What have been your most memorable moments of 2017?

My headline tour was a surreal moment. The stage almost collapsing at my London show because of the massive stage invasion was pretty memorable.

What’s your album of the year?

Soooo hard to pick. It’s a three-way tie between SZA – Cntrl, Tove Lo – Blue Lips and St Vincent – Masseduction. All those albums affected me in so many ways this year.

What was the best gig (besides your own) that you’ve been to this year?

Lemon Twigs rocked at Latitude.

Where will you be this Christmas and New Year?

For Christmas, I’ll be with the fam in London then me and a load of mates are going to the countryside for New Years! Shit’s gonna get messy. I’ve done so many NYEs in London, I wanted to switch it up.

What’s your favourite thing to eat or drink at Christmas?

CRISPY ROAST POTATOES ARE MY JAM. Hot, cold, fresh, a day old. I love them in all their forms.

What’s the best and worst Christmas present you’ve ever received?

The best was when I was in Australia for Christmas a couple years ago (my dad’s Australian) and my family out there all gave me a joint present of a ticket to do a Bridge Walk at night, which is being harnessed up to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and walking up it. It was fucking awesome. I can’t really remember the worst one. But it’s the thought that counts anyway.

Do you have any resolutions for 2018?

Spend less time on my phone and less time worrying about what other people are doing.

What is one thing you hope does not continue into 2018?

I’m really over adults bitching and gossiping about each other. Leave that shit in the school playground where it belongs.

What album are you hoping for/looking forward to the most from 2018?

Probably mine haha!

What band/act do you think we should keep our eyes on in 2018?

My mate Suzi Wu. She’s incredible.
