Before their headline show at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen we had a chat with BRIDGES about their very exciting new material.

You recently released two fantastic singles in one week, can you tell us the stories behind ‘Zebra’ and ‘Reverie’?
The songs are definitely connected. Reverie coming first, a story of a long term long distance relationship and Zebra is best described as the aftermath of that.

Both of those tracks have really cool artwork, can you tell us a bit about that?

Henry (bass) has quite the hand for drawing, so we got him on the case. We wanted something that caught the emotion of the tracks in colours that really struck with the thoughts of the songs. If you wanna see more of his doodles you should definitely follow his insta here.

What would you say your Mantra or objective is as a band?

I guess we’ve always been into songs with heart, lyrics that have purpose. Above all we want to be creating music that people can relate to and enjoy – but with integrity to the best of our ability.

How would you describe the development of your music since you first started BRIDGES?

BRIDGES began under a new alias in a small garage in Bridgwater with us bashing out some songs, I don’t think any of us really thought we would be doing half the things we’ve done. There’s a lot of emotion in the new tunes, it’s been a weird couple of years for us for a number of reasons. Rest assured we’ve got a lot planned for more!

What has been your favourite experience of being a band so far?

We love to travel, both for touring and festivals! We’ve had some of our best and worst days as a band on tour, but that’s what shapes and moulds you as an act. I remember once we’d borrowed a van for a tour from our friends The Splash. The rain was so torrential, we’d managed to break the motor for the windscreen wipers. Myself and our now manager, had rigged the blades to a piece of string, and took in turn wiping the screen so we could get to our show in Bath on time… Definitely looking forward to hitting the road again soon!

What can we expect from you next?

Our new single is dropping in July, with some other big changes in the band happening soon. Very excited to say the least!
