Legendary Linkin Park MC and multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda headlines for exclusive UK festival sets at Reading and Leeds, alongside Isaac Gracie, Sam Fender and more…
Mike Shinoda, MC and multi-instrumentalist from ground-breaking nu-metal outfit Linkin Park joins the headliners for this year’s Reading Festival. In one of the biggest moments in music for 2018, Shinoda’s due to take to the stage following the passing of legendary fellow LP frontman Chester Bennington. With a mix of old songs and new, Shinoda will be drawing from his latest ‘Post Traumatic’ EP, a personal 5-track project that see’s the vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist deal with the death of a close friend.
“At its core, grief is a personal, intimate experience,” explains Mike on ‘Post Traumatic.’ “As such, this is not Linkin Park, nor is it Fort Minor – it’s just me. Art has always been the place I go when I need to sort through the complexity and confusion of the road ahead. I don’t know where this path goes, but I’m grateful I get to share it with you.”
With both big names and hot new artists, Reading sees Alma, Brighton alt-rockers Demob Happy, Isaac Gracie, The Xcerts, Scandinavian garage-rockers Royal Republic and Macclesfield’s Spring King, alongside Italian alternative outfit Husky Loops and BBC Sound of 2018 short-listers Rex Orange County and Sam Fender.
With such a wide range of music, it looks like things are hotting up at Reading this year… or maybe not. “Man’s Not Hot” internet sensation Big Shaq (aka. Michael Dapaah) headlines the main-stage, so make sure to bring your jacket. Also on the hip-hop front, Birmingham’s grime star Lady Leshurr returns to the festival scene, alongside Croydon’s R&B master Hardy Caprio and BBC Sound of 2018 short-lister Yxng Bane.
Representing UK hip-hop, Brighton’s newcomer Ocean Wisdom joins the bill, following the release of his ground-breaking sophomore album ‘Wizville,’ that features an all-star cast including the legendary Method Man and UK grime scene pioneer Dizzee Rascal.
